O God

of intense moments,

when life is for real,

and we struggle and wonder,

and know we are unprepared.

Bring peace as we know

the journey is to be lived,

in times of fire and shadows.

Bring faith as we dare

to be intimate with each moment,

finding courage and meaning

though we suffer and want to close our eyes.

Surround us with the love of all the years and places,

even as we walk alone.

May we know Someone is always beside us.
